Capital Campaign

Camp Barnabas has a strong reputation for high quality programming for people with special needs. To uphold this we must continually examine, improve, enlarge and strengthen our programs and facilities. Our capital campaign, which began in 2006, continues to move forward, striving to have the best facilities for the campers we serve. The generosity of our many donors allows us to provide the best experience possible for our campers, because only the best will do!

21 new cabins...21 completed...Only 5 left to fund...
$475,000 needed to finish this project

State-of-the art, rustic cabins with spacious, accessible bathroom facilities and central heat and air. Each building has three large “wheel-in” shower rooms where campers can easily reach the sinks and toilet and one with a completely accessible bathtub. Cabins also have electric hook-ups that support recharging wheelchairs and other high-tech medical equipment. These cabins allow for 50 more campers per week, helping alleviate the long waiting lists for campers. Each cabin cost $95,000.

Equine Center - Completed 2006

A beautiful barn is in place with stalls, lots of storage and a great area for campers to help groom and care for our horses. Through the Eagle Scout project of one of our campers, for summer 2008, there is also gazebo-style areas to shelter campers from sun and heat as they wait their turn to ride.

Laundry Facility - Completed June, 2008

Through generous contributions from our donors and volunteer work from one of our favorite groups, The Red Hats (guys, not ladies), we are completing a new laundry facility in the cabin area with four commercial washers and dryers, a folding area, cubbies and a porch complete with rockers for our cabin moms and dads to relax as they perform this labor of love for our campers.

Health Center Campaign underway to raise $ 1,400,000

Architectural renderings have been completed and we hope to soon be approved for NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) credits for this project. This building will house a state-of-the-art clinic and living quarters for a wonderful team of 8 nurses and 2 physicians each week. Just imagine an amazing health center where one child is receiving IV therapy while another takes a breathing treatment. Where a camper plays checkers with his counselor while he has physiotherapy for diseased lungs as one of eight volunteer nurses checks the blood sugar of another camper. This building will offer privacy, space and plenty of camp craziness to make the mundane medical procedures that our campers live with a time of fun while they’re at camp.

Multi-Use Building...$552,500 needed

Camp Barnabas is known for non-stop fun and this building will house many of the activities that are done in the course of a fun day of camp. Arts & crafts, board games, Barnabas Café, and even a coffee house area for the older people at camp. Nature classes and all kinds of critter cages will be housed in this area, too. On rainy days, this will be the perfect place to chill and continue the fun of camp in spite of the weather. This is truly a multi-purpose building!

Barn House...$715,000 needed

This venue will host indoor wheelchair basketball or other ball activities. Sheltered from the sun, rain or other weather conditions, the campers will have non-stop fun indoors. The sides of this building can be moved up and out of the way to give the presence of outdoor living with shelter above. An all-purpose ground surface that supports wheelchairs will make wheeling through the games easy and fun for all. At one end there will be accessible bleachers and a stage, all portable and folding to allow for entertainment or praise and worship to take place in this beautiful building.

Future needs of camp that are on the table but not stated for this campaign include:  Mortgage payoff, Chapel, RV lounge for volunteers, new maintenance building, new staff housing and office building.
